Job Description of Merchandise Planner:

Opportunity: Grow Your Career

Merchandise Planner serve as an advanced progression from the Coordinator position, often switching between the two roles depending on the store's demands. They primarily undertake the responsibilities of a Coordinator and occasionally transition to the role of a Merchandise Planner, where they take charge of supervising all store functions. Successful Merchandise Planner are those with flexible schedules, willing to work nights and weekends, and who exemplify excellent customer service.

  • Fosters a constructive atmosphere for customers within and outside the organization
  • Fosters a climate of sincerity and ethical behavior, ensuring the protection of private details
  • Functions as the Manager on Duty, abiding by the guidelines and protocols set by the company
  • Making sure that the store team fulfills responsibilities and undertakes activities in alignment with the store's blueprint while adjusting priorities as required
  • Handles urgent customer service issues and offers relevant training to staff
  • Utilizing discernment when enforcing customer service guidelines to meet customer expectations
  • Manages adequate coverage of Associates in designated service regions to promote a favorable customer journey
  • Ensures that staff comply with all operational guidelines
  • Ensures that the procedures for beginning and ending operations are completed as per the company's standards
  • Maintains clear and efficient communication with management and colleagues when prioritizing tasks and provides consistent progress reports
  • Offers and receives acknowledgment and positive criticism
  • Provides support, appreciation, and mentoring to staff members
  • Working in partnership with management to identify and fulfill associate training needs for improved performance
  • Ensures that all labor laws, policies, and procedures are followed accordingly
  • Advocates for credit and loyalty initiatives
  • Shows commitment to decreasing shrink through involvement in relevant objectives and activities
  • Advocates for safety awareness while preserving a protected atmosphere
  • Tasks beyond the usual scope are to be expected

Qualification of Merchandise Planner:

  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
  • Team player, working effectively with peers and supervisors
  • Able to respond appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations
  • Knowledge of company standard software, systems, and procedures
  • Knowledge of merchandise flow in stores
  • Proven problem solving skills
  • Able to effectively coach, delegate, and follow-up on multiple people/tasks
  • Able to act quickly under challenging circumstances
  • Capable of multi-tasking
  • Superior communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • 1 year retail, 6 months leadership experience
